The Polacek Family: June 2012

Welcome to the mega blog.

Hi everyone. This is Annabelle! the newest addition to the Polacek family. I asked Luke if I could write the blog, and he said sure. He wanted a break anyway :).

I was born on Tuesday May 15th at 4:17pm. I weighed 8lbs 13oz and was 21 inches long. I was pretty stubborn about joining the world, it took quite a bit of effort to get me here.

Mom and Dad went to the OB on my due date, May 14th. The plan was to induce mommy and then hopefully deliver on Tuesday. The inducing began at 8:30 on Monday night, by 8:30 Tuesday morning there was no progress. Mommy was having contractions but they were not regular. They decided to break her water because they wanted things to move along. The contractions came on stronger after they did that but they were still irregular. I was still pretty high up and not dropping. At about noon, and after mom had the epidural, they gave her pitocin to see if that would regulate the contractions and help me move down. NOPE! At about 3:00 the doctor came in and nothing had changed. It had been a while since the water was broken and they needed to get me out. Mom had to have a C-section. I was still stubborn then because they had to use the vacuum to get me out!! I was just too comfortable. Mommy was really scared and did not like the process at all, but daddy was with her the whole time, which helped her feel much better. Mommy and Daddy say I was well worth the wait! They love me so much!

Right after I was born, my big brother Luke came to see me. He loved me at first sight and gave me kisses. I love him too. I can't wait to play with him.

We had alot of visitors in the hospital. So many family members and friends to love me.

Mom had to spend the next couple of days in the hospital. Two days after I was born, Luke turned 2!! We celebrated in the hospital. Dad and Luke brought doughnuts and later that day we had cake!

Then we were home. Mom was out of commission for a bit. She wasn't even allowed to pick up Luke! She had lots of help. While Daddy was at work Granny Jenjen and Papaw were around to help out.

During that week Luke went to swimming lessons. Mom tells me he is a really good swimmer. He can "monkey crawl" pretty far around the pool, and can swim underwater! He can also jump into the pool and swim to the wall. Here are some videos of him. Go Luke Go!

Then it was party time! Mom and Dad had the family and friends over for Luke's 2nd birthday. We watched Toy Story, played in the pool, opened presents and had cake.

Luke went to the doctor for his 2 year check up. He is 33 3/4 inches tall and weighs 26lbs 12oz.Luke is talking more and more every day, but Mom and Dad are still working with him on putting words together and explaining what he wants. Luke also runs around all the time!! He is super crazy!! He tickles me alot and loves to jump around. We go to the park and on walks sometimes. Luke really likes being outside. Since we are stuck inside for a while, he and mom have been doing lots of art projects. He LOVES to paint and color. His favorite things right now are Buzz Lightyear, Mr. Potato Head, the ipad, and phones.

After the party, we took it easy and just hung around the house. I am not allowed to go anywhere for a while, so we have been keeping it pretty low key. Soon after the party Grandpa Polacek and Grandma LeeLee came back from their vacation and came to visit me.

Then it was Mommy's birthday. We all celebrated here at the house.

Yesterday I turned one month old! We went to the doctor, and I am doing great! I weigh 10lbs 13oz and I am 22 3/4 inches long. This means I am on the 95th%ile in weight and 98th%ile in length. I am a very good eater and a pretty good sleeper. I like to look at mommy and daddy and smile. I am working on holding my head and turning over. Mom and I do tummy time every day while Luke plays in his room. Mommy is really enjoying her time at home with us. She will get to be home until Novemeber! Once I have my shots we have many fun outings planned. Stayed tuned!!
